Background of the Study

Mentorship programs in secondary schools play a crucial role in guiding students through their academic and personal development. Traditional mentorship programs rely on in-person meetings and may face challenges such as scheduling conflicts, limited mentor availability, and geographical constraints. The advent of cloud-based platforms presents an opportunity to expand mentorship programs by providing a digital platform for students and mentors to connect, interact, and collaborate in a more flexible and efficient manner.

In Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State, secondary schools may face difficulties in implementing and sustaining effective mentorship programs due to these limitations. A cloud-based student mentorship platform would enable students to access mentorship resources, connect with mentors online, and engage in discussions and activities that foster personal and academic growth. This study aims to explore the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of implementing a cloud-based mentorship platform in secondary schools in Zaria.

Statement of the Problem

Secondary schools in Zaria Local Government Area often struggle with providing consistent mentorship due to time constraints, logistical challenges, and limited access to qualified mentors. Students may not have sufficient opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions with mentors who can guide their academic and career choices. A cloud-based mentorship platform could address these challenges by providing a digital space where students can connect with mentors, access resources, and engage in virtual meetings. However, the effectiveness and feasibility of such a platform in Zaria have not been fully explored.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the feasibility of implementing a cloud-based student mentorship platform in secondary schools in Zaria Local Government Area.

  2. To evaluate the impact of a cloud-based mentorship platform on student engagement and academic performance.

  3. To identify the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing a cloud-based mentorship platform in Zaria secondary schools.

Research Questions

  1. How feasible is the implementation of a cloud-based student mentorship platform in secondary schools in Zaria Local Government Area?

  2. What impact does the cloud-based mentorship platform have on student engagement and academic performance?

  3. What challenges and opportunities exist in implementing a cloud-based mentorship platform in secondary schools in Zaria?

Research Hypotheses

  1. The implementation of a cloud-based student mentorship platform improves student engagement and academic performance in secondary schools in Zaria.

  2. A cloud-based mentorship platform increases students' access to mentors and academic resources.

  3. The implementation of a cloud-based mentorship platform presents both challenges and opportunities for secondary schools in Zaria.

Significance of the Study

This study will provide valuable insights into the role of cloud-based mentorship platforms in enhancing student engagement and academic performance. It will help educators and policymakers understand the potential benefits of using cloud technology to expand and improve mentorship programs in secondary schools.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study will focus on secondary schools in Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Limitations include internet connectivity issues, platform accessibility, and the need for training mentors and students to effectively use the platform.
